What is SyncRAID?
A Revolutionary RAID Engine
SyncRAID is a new family of ATA and Serial-ATA storage accelerator boards from
NetCell Corporation. It is standard in every iViD System. SyncRAID boards feature
a revolutionary new 64-bit RAID engine, offering for the first time a mainstream
RAID solution with the simultaneous benefits of both RAID 0-class performance
and RAID 5-class data protection. Breakthrough Performance — The Successor to RAID 5
SyncRAID is specifically designed to overcome the limitations of traditional
RAID technology and provide a solution for today’s demanding storage environments,
offering the fastest available ATA and Serial ATA storage performance for bandwidth-intensive
workstation, and media server applications. SyncRAID delivers high-end performance
with low-cost drives, while providing enterprise-class security for data and
video. Huge Video Storage Capacity
Up two 2 terabytes of protected storage is available in every iViD system, and
with the onset of larger drives in the near future, 4 terabytes of protected
storage will soon be available in a single iViD system. Continuous Data Protection
SyncRAID offers RAID 5-class data protection by utilizing parity data to protect
all of the drives in the array. With a SyncRAID protected array, any hard drive
in the array can fail, and the user will lose no data. Furthermore, SyncRAID’s
on-the-fly XOR engine enables iViD to continue working during a disk failure
at full speed with no loss of critical video.
Unrivaled Ease of Use
SyncRAID is the world’s first and only driverless storage adapter. NetCell
has patented a technique for emulating a standard IDE device at the hardware
level. As a result, the SyncRAID card does not require any vendor-specific drivers,
but instead uses the standard IDE driver built into the operating system. Configuration and Management Tool
Create, delete, rebuild and check array and drive status information. Advanced
setup menus to control failure notification and set up controller parameters.
Caching policy can be set for advanced users. Key Features
